Wallet’s Creator Reveals that Electrum Will Support Bitcoin Lightning Network

Bitcoin (BTC) wallet electrum will shortly host support for the Lightning Network (LN), Russian cryptocurrency news outlet Forklog reported on telegram July 5.

In a social media update, the publication stated founder Thomas Voegtlin had discovered the approaching release at the ongoing BIP001 conference in Odessa, Ukraine.

Electrum, one amongst the oldest bitcoin wallets on the market since 2011, said LN practicality would come as a part of an impending major upgrade.

The most recent version of the wallet came earlier in the week.

Electrum are going to be one amongst the primary major wallets to bring LN to the thought, the technology itself still remaining in an experimental part.

An alleged ‘off-chain’ scaling mechanism, Lightning permits users to send one another bitcoin virtually instantly, paying hardly any dealings fee.
