Kakao Corp, South Korean Internet Giant to Launch Blockchain Platform in June

Ground X, the blockchain arm of South Korean net giant Kakao business firm, has declared the launch date of its own blockchain platform, a Top Market Group correspondent learned at agreement 2019 on May 13.

Per the announcement, the Klaytnmainnet can launch on June 27, 2019, and can supposedly be a serious driver of blockchain adoption within the country. Kakao encompasses a 96 market share in South Korea, with a presence in electronic communication, gaming, content services, money services and quality services.

Kakao declared its intention of launching a blockchain platform last March, and discharged a testnet version of Klaytn in October. The platform focuses on decentralized apps (DApps). As of October last year, developers were working with around 10 domestic and international partners to check the new scheme.

More recently, Kakao has repeated its initial coin offering (ICO) to raise an extra $90 million for Klaytn. In December, the firm declared plans to raise a complete of $300 million through Ground X to develop a native token.

Kakao additionally supposedly has plans to release an integrated crypto wallet in its messaging app, KakaoTalk, following the discharge of the Klaytnmainnet, as per South Korean outlet Fnnews.
