In The Dominican Republic, John McAfee Reportedly Released Following Detainment

Cryptocurrency enthusiast and antivirus software system namesake John McAfee seems to have been released by authorities within the Dominican Republic these days. McAfee announce a picture on his official Twitter account with the caption:

“Leaving detention (don't judge my appearance - four days of confinement). i used to be well treated. My superiors were friendly and useful. In spite of the useful circumstances, we've decided to move on. Later.”

On July 23, a post was created on McAfee’s twitter account, allegedly by McAfee’s campaign manager Rob BenedictoPacifico Juan Maria Loggia-Ramirez, saying that McAfee and his boat crew had likely been detained. McAfee declared that Loggia-Ramirez would be his presidential campaign manager in Oct 2018.

A report by the Associated Press seems to own confirmed Loggia-Ramirez’s suspicion. Per the report, McAfee was arrested on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, whereas tying up his yacht in Puerto Plata, once that authorities seized high-calibre weapons and alternative military props from his vessel.

McAfee’s presidential campaign in exile

McAfee has been running a campaign for President of the U.S. from self-imposed exile. He’s supposedly conducting the campaign from abroad because of an alleged indictment by the U.S. internal revenue Service (IRS). McAfee said:

“The agency has convened a jury within the state of Tennessee to charge myself, my wife [...] and 4 of my campaign employees with unspecified IRS crimes of an illegal nature.”

McAfee has also said that his campaign isn't a significant bid for office, however rather a way to promote cryptocurrency.

In a recent interview with Top Market Group , McAfee said that he believes fiat money are going to be dead within ten years, saying “I assume in ten years there'll be no order anyplace within the world. Everything are going to be electronic, everything are going to be cryptocurrency.” In stark contrast, U.S. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin recently said that he won't even be talking regarding Bitcoin in ten years.
