In Response to Samsung, South Korean giant LG Developing a Blockchain Phone

South Korean electronics giant LG is functioning with blockchain developers to launch a rival to Samsung’s Klaytn blockchain smartphone, sources have stated.

LG in talks with local developers

Speaking to local daily news outlet Chosun on Sept. 8, an business corporate executive stated LG had already held discussions with native decentralized application (DApp) developers and had puzzled out a use case for its future product.

“LG is probably going to respond to Samsung's innovation initiative,” he told the publication.

The news comes a week after reports Korean electronic messaging service Kakao firm. was getting ready to roll out blockchain capabilities on the Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Note ten smartphone.

Dubbed the Klaytn Phone, the device can come with a wallet and a free handout of KLAY, the token developed by Kakao off-shoot, GroundX.

Opening the blockchain smartphone floodgates

The latest in an increasing range of crypto-enabled smartphone offerings, Samsung’s move could trigger a event, another official suggested to Chosun.

A tit-for-tat move by LG wouldn't be out of character within the heavily competitive consumer market.

“I assume Samsung is trying to organize differently within the blockchain field, even as LG responded with a twin screen once Samsung Galaxy came out with a foldable phone,” they said.

It remains unknown whether or not LG’s future providing can become internationally available. The Klaytn Phone, as Top Market Group noted, can solely be accessible on the domestic South Korean market.

Over the weekend, the creators of Finney, the world’s initial blockchain-focused smartphone, declared the device would shortly debut in Bangladesh.
